Softwire

Recruitment

Softwire was one of just eight companies shortlisted in the Computer Weekly Best Places to Work in IT awards 2009, in the Software and Hardware Suppliers category. The judging process for these awards is based extensively on feedback provided by company staff about the satisfaction they derive from their day to day work, and the way they feel about their employer and working environment.

To quote Computer Weekly, "being judged by your own employees is THE most powerful measure of employer success", so we're very proud to have been given such a resounding thumbs up by our team.

Jobs at Softwire

Softwire is a highly successful, young company with around 50 staff and we are currently looking to expand. We are seeking:

  • top quality graduates with a desire to forge a career in software development or I.T. consultancy
  • highly talented developers with prior commercial experience.

We offer our developers and consultants an almost unbeatable package, including:

  • 2009 graduate starting salary of £28,000 - more for those with experience
  • annual bonus and profit share to further reward your contribution to the company’s success – graduates can expect to earn in the region of £35,000 in their first full year
  • flexible working hours and conditions and no pressure to regularly exceed your contracted time
  • pension, permanent health insurance and all the other boring stuff
  • a relaxed and friendly working environment, regular social events and company outings.

Working for a growing and dynamic company has plenty of advantages that simply aren't available at your average employer. For example:

  • varied and interesting work that will keep you on your toes day in, day out
  • focused training, rapid personal development, and the opportunity to take on positions of responsibility at a very early stage in your career
  • higher remuneration - we believe that all our staff should reap the rewards of our joint efforts and share in the company's success
  • all the benefits of working in a close-knit and supportive company - such as close monitoring of your achievement and progress, and a refreshing lack of bureaucracy.

And last but by no means least, at Softwire you have the opportunity to really make a difference.

But you don't have to take our word for it - find out what our employees think. Or for more information on our company and business, check out our company overview.

Your profile

You are a graduate with an impeccable academic record - usually straight A's at A-level and a good degree from a top university. You have a strong interest in (though not necessarily vast experience of) computers in general, and computer programming in particular. If you have prior commercial experience, you will have excelled at your former employers. You have an exceptional knack for problem solving and analytic deductive reasoning. You like a challenge and are hard working and eager to learn new skills. You want to work in London. You are a good communicator and team player. You may have a desire to manage projects and people. You believe that a job should be more than just what you do to fill time between sleeping and partying - and you definitely have a good sense of humour.

In summary, we’re looking for people with stand-out enthusiasm and abilities, people who were top of all their classes and have the grades and awards to show for it.  You will need to demonstrate these qualities to us to be successful, so please make sure that they’re highlighted in your application.

Current vacancies

We are currently looking for:

  • trainee software developers and I.T. consultants
  • software developers with prior commercial experience.

We do not at present have vacancies in other areas (e.g. testing or project management).

However, in addition to permanent vacancies, we also offer software development-based summer placements and internships - so you are welcome to apply even while you're still studying.

How to apply

The preferred way to apply is via our online application form. Note that our application form doesn't have any of the inane questions you find on some employers' application forms and is relatively quick to fill in. We assess our candidates on raw technical ability - not on the ability to answer ridiculous questions!

Alternatively you can send your CV to recruit@softwire.com, but please ensure CVs contain as much of the information in the online form as possible, particularly school and university details and examination grades (and note that we prefer CVs to be sent in Microsoft Word format rather than e.g. Adobe PDF). Feel free to contact us for further information.

Please note that we do not work with recruitment agencies or consultants so candidates should apply to us directly.

If you'd rather not fill in the application form now, then just leave your name and email address (and/or any other contact details we should use) below to register your interest and we'll provide you with full details of our recruitment and interview procedures:
