Dan Shavick - Founder
Dan co-founded Softwire in 2000 as a company that would build bespoke software the right way. A maths graduate from Cambridge, Dan started out his career as a software developer and now has over 20 years’ industry experience. Dan devised Softwire’s phenomenally successful recruitment strategy and is also the author of a successful poker book, No Limit Texas Hold’em for Winners.
Pete Kenny - Founder
Pete is Softwire’s financial director and one of the original founders of the company. A graduate from the University of Manchester (UMIST) with a degree in Microelectronic Systems Engineering, he has a strong technical background and adopts a rigorous approach to managing the company’s finances. Before founding Softwire, Pete worked for eight years at software products company Data Connection where he held development, management and technical sales positions. His outside interests include spending time with his kids and playing drums & guitar badly.
Phil Marsden - Founder
After a ten-year career in software development, Phil co-founded Softwire in 2000 as a company that would employ only the very best staff, be a great place to work and provide an unrivalled service to its customers. An avid cyclist, he recently completed the UK “King of the Downs” and a 200km mountain stage of the Tour de France.
Zoe Cunningham - Managing Director
Zoe has been at Softwire since 2000, in which time she has made it her mission to hold every role in the company – developer, project manager, consultant, sales, Operations Manager and now Managing Director. Zoe is also the 2010 World Ladies Backgammon Champion and a broadcaster and television presenter. In 2013 Zoe accompanied Prime Minister David Cameron on his trade delegation to China.
Andrew Thomas - Operations Director
Andrew joined Softwire in 2003 and has held a number of positions over the years, starting as a developer before moving into project management and consultancy. Now Operations Director, he is ultimately responsible for the successful delivery of all of our software development projects.
Matthew Richards - Technical Director
Matthew joined Softwire in 2001, and still thinks Softwire is the best company imaginable. Previously lead architect of the Reservwire travel reservation system, Matthew is now Technical Director, with ultimate responsibility for Softwire’s technical direction and delivery strategy. Matthew has two young children, and therefore no spare time – but if he did, he’d spend most of it in the Welsh hills.
Tom Steer - Commercial Director
Tom has been with Softwire since its inception, initially as a developer, then project manager, consultant and now as Commercial Director runs our technical sales, consultancy and legal teams. In the spare time left to him by his two children, Tom is a keen player of rugby, go and bridge.
Andy Smart - Sales & Marketing Director
Andy joined Softwire in 2008 and currently leads the sales team. He has over 15 years’ experience of building and managing sales teams in the technology space. Andy plays bass guitar, is an enthusiastic golfer and still hopes for the Smiths to reform.
Ric Hill - Founder of Softwire West
Ric joined Softwire in 2005 as a software developer, but with a background as a project manager at the BBC he was soon managing some of Softwire’s highest profile projects. Ric founded our Bristol office, Softwire West, in 2012. In Bristol Ric takes an active role in all parts of the business, working closely with clients across the whole project lifecycle – from sales and consultancy through delivery to support. Outside of work Ric juggles competing in triathlons with the demands of a young family.
