Softwire joins NHS England's £215m screening programme in partnership with Netcompany

We're delighted to be part of the consortium chosen to modernise NHS cancer screening for millions of people a year.

We're delighted to be part of the consortium selected by NHS England to modernise how the country delivers cancer screening.
NHS England has appointed Netcompany as digital delivery partner for its adult screening programmes, in a five-year partnership worth over £215 million. The programme covers all seven national adult screening programmes, including breast, cervical and bowel cancer, and reaches around 15 million people with invitations every year. The services will be sovereign and NHS-owned, built in the UK and controlled by the NHS.
Softwire is proud to be named as a scaling partner within Netcompany's ecosystem of UK partners, alongside dxw, Create Change and Adroc. Together, the consortium is committing over a third of contract revenue to UK small and medium-sized businesses, backed by a dedicated Screening Innovation Fund that will support SME-led innovation, including a target for one in five supply chain businesses to be led by underrepresented groups.
The work sits at the heart of the NHS Digital Prevention Services Programme and the government's ambition to shift healthcare from treatment towards prevention. It will replace legacy national screening systems while keeping services running, and build the next generation of screening, including a new national breast screening service and an enhanced cervical screening service offering HPV self-testing kits at home. The aim is to catch more disease earlier, shorten the time between invitation and result, and make screening more personal and accessible, particularly for communities it has historically underserved.

“We’re proud to support Netcompany and NHS England on work that has the potential to improve outcomes for millions of people. As scaling partner, our focus is on bringing the delivery experience, engineering discipline and user-centred approach needed to help modern screening services succeed at a national scale,” says Caroline East, Healthcare Lead at Softwire.
Screening already saves thousands of lives across England every year. We’re proud to help build digital services that make it easier to reach people sooner, deliver results faster and support earlier diagnosis at national scale.
