AI in Government 2026
Alex Wolff and Raam Chauhan-Train will be speaking at IGPP’s AI in Government 2026, sharing a practical perspective on using AI in public services without losing control, judgment, or trust.
AI in Public Services: Learning from Human Error Without Automating Harm
Errors already happen in public services, not because people don’t care, but because they work in complex systems under pressure. And introducing AI doesn’t remove that risk; it changes how mistakes surface, making them faster and harder to detect if safeguards aren’t designed from the start.
In their session, Alex and Raam will focus on how delivery teams can use AI to reduce administrative burden while keeping professional judgement firmly in the loop. They will share practical approaches that teams can implement, with an emphasis on:
- Maintaining accountability and transparency in AI-supported decisions
- Designing systems that remain contestable, with clear routes for challenge and override
- Reducing operational load while keeping humans meaningfully in the loop
