Highlights from Softwire’s Productionising GPT event

Tom Ward

Softwire Manchester is delighted to invite you to an event that aims to strip away the noise and hype around generative AI and offer you real world use-cases and tangible, practical advice to those considering how to make the most of this rapidly emerging technology.

The evening will consist of two talks, each delivered by a Softwire industry expert:

Real-world usage (Jon Artus, Director & Head of Consulting at Softwire)

In this talk, we’ll share our experiences of building production software with ChatGPT to solve real world problems. We’ll walk through a case study of implementing Large Language Models (“LLMs”) in financial services, give insights into how to identify use-cases, and bring practical advice on testing feasibility and taking ideas to production.

Jon Artus

Director & Head of Consulting

Jon has a long history as a technical lead, consultant and programme manager on digital transformation and systems architecture projects, including mobile app development and engineering for LNER, David Lloyds Club, Elexon, Bloomwell, Potential Plus UK, HearAngel and Telegraph Media Group. He has also overseen the implementation of automated software testing and DevOps strategies in large organisations.

DIY GPT (Anthony Pengelly, Technical Principal at Softwire)

With services changing rapidly, and increasing scrutiny from infosec and regulators, there’s a case to be made for hosting your own Large Language Models. In this second talk, we’ll walk through a practical set of steps to deploy, train, and productionise custom LLMs, from the increasingly wide range of open-source models.

Anthony Pengelly

Technical Principal

Anthony has worked on a wide range of projects over during his time at Softwire ranging from managing high traffic websites for the BBC, to designing and architecting globally distributed systems for Air Charter Services as well as working on major projects for Direct Line Group, LNER and RSA Insurance, and he is an expert on all things generative AI.
