Anthony Pengelly

Anthony joined Softwire in 2015, after studying Electronic Engineering at Durham University.

Anthony has worked on a wide range of projects over this time, ranging from managing high traffic websites for the BBC, to designing and architecting globally distributed systems for Air Charter Services.

Through these projects, Anthony has developed knowledge of a wide range of technologies, and can always be relied upon to deliver a UI with high attention to detail. Anthony was integral in setting up the Softwire training scheme, teaching new graduates best practices and introducing them to work within a software project team.

Experience

LNER – Senior Technical Lead

Anthony played an integral part in taking over the LNER website from a previous supplier and smoothing out the transition to make this a successful project. This involved setting up the processes for the new team and making sure we could iterate upon the legacy system without regressions. Anthony led the project through its first PCI compliance audit as well as identifying and implementing security improvements and streamlining business processes.

RSA Insurance – Technical Lead

Anthony has led development on RSA’s Motability Insurance site. This site revitalised Motability’s online presence by allowing customers to view and manage their policies through an account portal. Behind the scenes, Anthony has tackled many technical challenges, bringing together many legacy systems and integrating with a SAML identity provider to create a seamless experience for the user.

Air Charter Services – Technical Lead

Anthony led multiple projects for Air Charter Services, architecting, building, and supporting complex systems for their global user base. This provided full-stack challenges, from integrating with and aggregating data from many external systems, all the way through to delivering a highly polished customer portal mobile app. Anthony tackled all these challenges, all the while supporting a team of developers and nurturing their career development.
